They destroy city streets and cause plenty of congestion on the roadways, so why haven't city officials done more to keep large trucks on their designated routes.
Salinas says ordinances are in place and maybe its time to take a look at enforcement.
They tear up the roadways, cause congestion and in some cases, break the law.
So why do truckers continue to run right over Laredo.
Mayor Raul Salinas acknowledges the truck problem, but says ordinances are already in place and city officials have done all they can.
He says the problem now may be enforcement.
With at least 4-thousand citations, a spokesperson for Laredo police says plenty is being done.
And really, city officials are the ones that need to take the problem seriously.
Mayor Salinas says he will meet with the police department to make sure that everything that can possibly be done on the issue is taken care of.
Police officials tell us, they welcome the criticism.

Trucking isa large contributor to the city's economy so we are going to see a higher amount of trucks than in other cities. There are designated truck routes that obviously the truckers do not obey.Alot has to do with the fact that the police department does not enforce those traffic laws,so of course the trucker will see how much they can get away with(human nature).I have seen trucks on McPherson,San Bernardo even on Ruidoso, where a police unit is in the area but does not do anything about it.
