Kids go on a Christmas shopping spree

By KGNS News

Children in south Laredo spent the day on a shopping spree at Walmart.
The City Council District 1 shopping spree event is in its fourth year, and geared towards giving children a few necessities this Christmas.
One hundred kids received a jacket and pair of shoes, along with socks and undergarments.
Some even decided to share a few things with their siblings.
Organizers of the shopping spree say giving to the Laredo community helps keep the program going.
Mike Garza, Councilman, District 1
“What brings me a lot of pleasure is that there are people willing to support programs like this and in tough economic times it means a lot for Laredo.”
All students who participated in the spree were chosen by school counselors.
