Humane Society offering reward for leads in animal shelter break-in

By KGNS News

Last Sunday early morning, the animal shelter was broken into and three dogs were taken away, along with computers and more than one thousand dollars in cash from donations.

Now the Humane Society of the United States is offering $2,500 for information leading to the arrest of those responsible of taking the dog:

" It's just overwhelming, I mean when somebody is going to offer that kind of money, especially but it's great especially this time of year."

But this holiday will be sad since Piper, a pitbull, who needs medical attention, Itty Bitty a Chihuahua and another pitbull is missing.

"I was there the day Piper was brought in and they said that she had been either dropped or kicked and thrown in the trash can."

Since then Logan and Piper have been inseparable.

The other two dogs were already adopted and the Chihuahua was a Christmas gift for someone.

The animal shelter is worried that these dogs are not getting the treatment they need as they already experienced a rough start.

" So we are trying to give them a better future and for them to take the pitbulls and put them to fight or as bait is probably worse than from where they came from."

In the meantime, the shelter is grateful that the Humane Society is coming forward to help them with this case and hope the dogs are brought back to the shelter.

Seems like accountability is not an important issue for the "Animal Shelter", Giving gifts to friends at the City of Laredo costs Taxpayers money, BE RESPONSIBLE that is all you have to do. LOCK GATES AND DOORS at all hours. FOLLOW REGULATIONS. Dont be stupid and negligent.

There is a great article about eating your pets. While you don't have to eat your house pets why not eat the ones at the shelter? This has a two fold benefit. First, this new source of meat could revitalize the food bank and assist Bethany House. Secondly, it's good for global warming, ask AL Gore. As a coincidental benefit, the shelter wouldn't have to solicit the public for donations.

I am so frustrated with this "animal Shelter" that they just forget it and next time lock the door. and dont ask the public for support, erease your "pobrecito" mentality and be more responsible.
