Families celebrate arrival of local New Year's babies

By KGNS News

Two families are celebrating more than just the New Year; they're welcoming the first babies of 2010.

Briana Estrada was born at Doctors Hospital this morning at six thirty three, weighing in at six pounds and 14 ounces, and measuring in at 19 and a half inches long.

She was supposed to be born on Monday but came a little early.

Ricardo Mendez was born just an hour later at the Laredo Medical Center.

He weighs seven pounds three ounces and is 19 inches long.

Both moms say they had no idea how big of a big deal it is to have a baby on New Years day.
