Parents need to shell out big bucks for their Little Bucks

The Junior Bucks organization has spent close to half a million dollars in fees just to use the Laredo Entertainment Center since they took the ice eight years ago.
With steep fees to play hockey, coaches fear interest in the sport will die, and they’re taking their concerns to council in hopes of getting hockey treated like any other sport in town.
Parents can sign their kids up for little league baseball and peewee football for close to nothing, but if they want their kid to play hockey, they'll have to cough up some big bucks.

Did you think for a moment that I was going to give the kids a chance to expose themselves to ice skating? As long as I'm going to make money, via kickbacks or whatever, lets cross out that promise and let the kids ice skate for a week or so out of the year; there my promise was kept!

Wait a minute, I want for my kids to learn to ski down a mountaina so we should also consider a slalom and a ski lift. It can be a bunny hill with an artificial snow machine. Betty, kiki, Gene, how about it?

I would also like for the city to make some sort of special pool that makes waves!! I would like for my son to start learning how to surf!! I think the City should pay for this too! what a joke!

Just typical! All because people want to make money, we could lose one of the few recreational activities available for our children. I agree with "La Betty", I remember them all saying the hockey rink will be available for public use during hockey off season...well, I'm still waiting!!! Oh but once again, the HELL with the kids because they are brainstorming for bigger and better INVESTMENTS... a new GOLF COURSE for their own recreation. What a crock!

I remember Kiki and his cheerleader Betty Flores telling people to vote for the arena because the kids would have an ice ring to use. I guess they failed to tell us it would cost us 50,000 dollars. I guess its not cheap to own and maintain Kiki and Glenn Hart's private planes....

What they should do is give the Junior Bucks a concession stand at the Arena and allow them to keep all the money so that they can help pay for all the expenses. The city helps the Bucks by taking over the losing part of the arena but allows them to keep the profitable concessions and advertising. So why not help the junior Bucks

and what now, so these parents want US, the tax payers to pay for this??? if you wanted your kids to play, you as parents and the coaches should have done some reshearch on this before making the expense. everyone wants something from the tax payers. some might be saying, we are asking the city, well where do you all think the city gets its money??? from the tax payers. enough is enough.

These blogs should be posted on Problem Solvers. Sadly, however, we are probably the only ones that are going to see these blogs.

Why should the city of Laredo and its taxpayers have to foot the bill?! unfair! besides doesn't the arena already belong to the city? Should the Parks and Rec have jurisdiction over the ice rink? If parents get help for the enrollment fee they will not stop they will ask for skates, pads and other gear. Laredo wasn't and will never be prepared to handle situations like these! They needed more time to investigate and weigh other options. If they get money for hockey lets not forget baseball

The City is stupid, no where else but here in Laredo do they charge so much for using the ice. Most of the time, the ice is sitting there not being used anyways, so whats the problem?

The L.E.C. should allow more Laredo children to get their experience in ice skating there, for a fee of course. A week is not enough time to even expose Laredo children into skating on ice, like the one they held this past week. Let them learn to like ice skating before admiring the sport of hockey. Give the kids a chance to skate on ice, as most Laredo parents were convinced to believe was going to happen before we voted on it.
