San Agustin traffic tickets still valid

By KGNS News

The City does not have the power to cancel traffic tickets issued around San Agustin Plaza over the holidays.

That's according to the City Attorney, who shot down talks of voiding tickets given to motorists picking up and dropping off pedestrians during the holidays.

Reports say more than 850 tickets were issued, and costing $25, they still have to be paid.

Municipal judges and hearing officers are the only ones with the authority to dismiss a ticket.

Gracias que tememos un city attorney that knows the law and the separation of legislative and judiciary branches of government. Let the violators have their day in court...that's the way is supposed to be.

Law is determined, made and directed by the populace by majority of legal citizenry. Who violated which law?

In my opinion, the motel there on the plaza got tired of the traffic in front of it and used it's connections to get the tickets wrote to start with. It's as usual, some big wig doesn't like something and pulls political strings to get something done without concideration to the general public or what the general public wants. Rich get what they want and the rest of us get shafted!!!!

I believe that Judge Ornelas will call a press conference regarding all tickets issued at Plaza San Agustin and dismiss them all. Judge Ornelas if for the people. No, I have never had a ticket dismissed by Judge Ornelas...if you happen to be thinking in such fashion.

When a city councilman uses his influence as such and having a personal interest in LA POSADA as his employement as manager this is called Conflict of interest. This is one of the first mistakes Mexican-American politicians make, and directed to the general public. I have seen this before all over South Texas,

Since we are at it, the city needs to charge the fireworks stands to clean up the mess left by their trash on the streets!

Ciy Attorney wants to collect the $25 fines. Ha, ha, ha, what about the $80,0000,000 from other fines. How can a city department not collect fines that have been ignored and gotten that high. One word-incompetency.

When will you ever stop with that? The problem here is the fact that those people were blocking traffic! How would you like it if the car in front of you stops suddenly IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD to drop off someone and then that someone will stay talking to that person for a bit before walking away? Lets have the city designate a Loading Zone for those dropping off people. What gives them a right to block traffic? Stop diverting from the issue which is the blocked traffic

Laredoans have an entitlement mentality that is almost as repugnant as their refusal to accept responsibility for their actions and be considerate to those around them.
