Mexican drivers less likely to get ticketed

Officials at the Transportation Department admit Mexican drivers are ticketed less frequently than local drivers.
Logs from the Traffic Safety Division show only 20% to 25% of their parking tickets are issued to Mexican drivers. The other 75% of tickets go to local and state drivers.
They say when a Mexican driver is cited they are treated the same way as a US driver if their ticket is unpaid.
Penalties include putting a boot on the car or issuing additional penalty charges, but they do admit it is much harder to collect from Mexican parking violators.
Out of those 20% to 25% of parking tickets issued to Mexican drivers, about half of them actually pay their ticket.

The city is always saying that mexican nationals stimulate our city's economy by eating at our restaurants and shopping at our stores but they also violate multiple laws. They're always speeding,they never yield the right of way and they pollute our city and to top it off, they're extremely rude. Make them pay in the stop(because we all know they have the money to pay)or tow their vehicles like they do to people who don't have insurance. But then again, I agree with UTMale, it will never happen

The city should start booting or towing cars like the PPA does for violators with multiple tickets still owed.

It's useless to ticket mexican plates, waste of paper, waste of time for the judges. What they should do is what EVERY COUNTY in AL, MI, LA, NM, NV, AZ does with out of state plates...PAY OR STAY! Meters that are expired should get the boot right then an there! But this WILL NEVER HAPPEN! Simply because its not in the best interest for the City Council, Mayor, Chamber of Commerce and other special interest parties because then Laredo will become the next encinal or dilley on there way to S.A.

everybody should get tickets for breaking the law if the car or truck has mexican plates just tow it this way the ticket gets paid.next time they will pay the meter!!!!!! mexicans are not 1st class citizens.they are just citizens like you and me they must get and pay thier tickets like verybody

The city is supposed to ticket everyone, no exceptions but then this is Laredo. I guess the transportation department is part of the convention and visitors bureau so they treat mexican turistas better than local citizens who pay their salaries and taxes. Viva Laredo!
