Breaking News: Toyota suspends sales of 8 cars and trucks in the U.S.

By KGNS News

In the wake of a massive recall announced last week, Toyota is suspending U.S. sales of several models.

The sales suspension includes late model Corolla, Matrix, Avalon, Camry, Highlander, Rav-4, Tundra, and Sequoia vehicles.

The Japanese automaker recalled the vehicles in order to fix problems that could cause accelerator pedals to stick.

Toyota is also halting production the week of February first at five manufacturing facilities.

The recall involves over two million vehicles. That's just months after Toyota recalled more than four million vehicles due to gas pedals that could become stuck under floor mats causing the vehicles to accelerate.

MODELS INCLUDED IN SUSPENSION:
Toyota's accelerator pedal recall and suspension of sales is confined to the following Toyota Division vehicles:

2009-2010 RAV4,
2009-2010 Corolla,

2005-2010 Avalon,
Certain 2007-2010 Camry,
2010 Highlander,
2007-2010 Tundra,
2008-2010 Sequoia

No Lexus or Scion Vehicles Are Included.

The Toyota Prius, Tacoma, Sienna, Venza, Solara, Yaris, 4Runner, FJ Cruiser, Land Cruiser and select Camry models, including all Camry hybrids, will remain for sale.
