An LISD middle school teacher is placed on administrative leave.
In a phone interview earlier today, Humberto Garza, a teacher at Christen Middle School said he received a letter by the district informing him he had been suspended for allegedly engaging in inappropriate activity with a student.
Garza teaches computer science at the school.
Mr. Garza has retained legal council and says that his due process was violated.
He said he didn't receive the letter until January the 23rd, 15 days after the letter was written.
A spokesperson with the district tells us Garza will remain on suspension pending the outcome of an investigation.

a two year old in school? when? where was I? Was she a prodigy? As for the topic, seems like we are "thinning the herd" for more jobs and for more qualified people. At least some good comes out of this recession, everyone is checking to see what everyone else is doing. At least we are getting the perverts out of the school system, something that NEEDS to be done even when their isn't a "recession".

Again I as ask this question to LISD, WHAT DOES THE SCHOOL NURSE HAVE TO DO WITH THIS? Please explain this for those that don't have your vast knowledge and experience. I don't see the connection. She was 2 yrs old, she wasn't a student at the school...etc. Please take time to explain thoroughly why the school nurse is to blame

The reason the good teachers leave is because of all the injustice here.Paying 150-200 grand a year to superintendants? They need good teachers good money, and send the rest packing.

Most businesses don't CG. I think they are starting to now, due to the recession, but say about 10-5 yrs ago they hired any o'l person. Apparently LISD needs to "catch up" with the rest of Laredo.. :P As for "teachers", they are a dime a dozen, but "good" teachers don't often STAY here in Laredo. There are still some good teachers that do, but a lot are mediocre at best. Not to mention that the whole education system is rock poor. Houston School districs are a grade ahead of Laredo's.

Are the school districts not screening prospective teachers before they are hired?

If you in the LISD Board are so concerned about the students, you need to file the negligence chatges against the administrators and the nurse, thanks to them Baby Katherine was killed next day.
