The drug related violence along the Mexico border is drawing more attention from the director of the Department of Public Safety, according to the associated press. D.P.S. director, Steve McCraw, says the violence along the Mexico border is worse than the drug wars in Colombia 20 years ago. McCraw says that drug cartels use gangs to operate as hit squads on both sides of the border and he says he considers illegal immigrants that join gangs in cities like Houston and engage in criminal activities to be "spillover violence." McCraw is expected to recommend an action plan for Texas lawmakers to consider next year.
