Just when most started to believe the stadum decision would mean the end of Broncos baseball.... a local publication comes out with an editorial cartoon depicting everything surrounding the stadium controversy.
"A lot of people don't understand what is really going on until they read this article and now they are surprised the local team didn't get the stadium."
The cartoon and article that follows has many Laredoans talking. People who knew the issue very well and people who didn't, but the illustration in Laredos captured everyone's interest.
After speaking with a member of city council he is hoping there will be some secondary thoughts about the decision to go with the Ventura Group.
Until then, the Laredo Broncos say their offer that includes a waterpark still stands and they are ready if called upon by the city.
"We are just going to wait and see what the city decides and we are going to play ball... Thats what we're going to do we're going to have fun and show the city what baseball is all about."

It is ashamed what Gene Belmares did to the Laredo Broncos, only so that his engineering friend could make hundreds of thousands from Ventura Sports. Its like if the Bucks would have been taken advantage of after the Arena vote. I will not vote for Gene nor his puppet orli for city council

This is a shame. considering all the problems the broncos have had they still toughed it out. hope city can revisit and make the right decision for the people not themselves.

Gene Belmares, Carlos Villarreal, Tito Garcia, Johnny Rendon and "maquinitas" Juan Narvaez. And you wonder why Laredo is corrupt? Those 5 and throw in Mike Garza, lay the foundation for the city. However, we have the power to take back the city. Start calling people out.

I heard someone running for city council also has inside information on bidding. I heard he sold trees and made thousands and the guy isnt even in the tree business.... Is that also Gene's puppet?

I hope the City Council reconsiders and gives the Broncos a 2nd chance, but I also hope they drop this idea to put a mediocre water park that was put in as a desperate move and stick to a baseball stadium.

Lets see what happens. Seems both ownership groups(ventura and broncos) have issues but at least we know the broncos and they have lived up to the promises of being a community citizen. We dont know the other group and frankly dont care. We have supported the broncos since the begining. through tickk or thick.

Laredo Broncos for sell $2,000,000.00 est. Last in the league in bating. Check Back of the pack in pitching. you bet! Is Laredo on the border to Mexico? YEP Will Laredo have the budget for bailing players out of the webb county jail? Possibly Laredo Bucks did, washed away a DWI couple of years back...or did we forget? The 1st four lines came straight out of Sports Illustrated issue in Sept.'09 then again repeated in Jan 2010, How can someone sooo far away from Laredo know what we are in for an yet the LOCALS can't see that???!! I know who in city council is going to get lifetime seats/parking when the teams arrives, like Betty Flores with those seats on the Ice and the city council in the boxes up there soooo far away from the action. Gotta Love Laredo.
