Police chase leads to drug bust

The Laredo Police Department seized bundles of marijuana and arrested a man after a brief chase.

Authorities were notified thanks to an anonymous caller to 9-1-1. The incident occurred at noon when officers got information that this silver vehicle was used to transport bundles of marijuana. Police were able to spot the vehicle along mines road asked the driver to stop but he refused leading officers on a small chase. T

he driver ended up in a brush area in the 8900 block of San Mateo. There police were able to arrest the driver after he led authorities on a foot chase.

47-year-old Juan Rodriguez Villarreal is facing charges of possession of marijuana, one count of evading arrest on foot and evading arrest on a motor vehicle. Inside the car police officers found four hundred dollars in cash and 432 pounds of marijuana.

Previously the caller had advised police that the marijuana was being loaded to the vehicle from the river.
