Commissioners Discuss Collective Bargaining

By KGNS News

Webb County Commissioners met today and as part of the agenda they discussed the sheriff's department collective bargaining agreement.

The Sheriff's Department Association has been negotiating a new contract for more than six months now.

At today's meeting they discussed two issues.

Whether or not Sheriff Martin Cuellar was going to be part of the contract.

They also discussed how much vacation deputies are allowed to accrue.

The negotiation will have to continue for another 30 days, in order to resolve these issues.

The sheriff position is elected and should NOT be part of any contract.seems like a conflict of interest.
