A boycott planned in border cities is garnering a lot of attention, especially here in Laredo.
It's being called "A Day Without Mexicans."
Those living in Nuevo Laredo and other border cities are urged to not cross over to the US on Monday, May 24th.
The president of the chamber commerce in Nuevo Laredo says Mexicans are asked to not work, shop, or do any other business in Laredo.
It's all in an effort to overturn the Arizona immigration bill, which allows police to question anyone's immigration status if they have "probable cause:”
"We’re not happy with the Arizona law, today it's Arizona and tomorrow Texas and who knows which other states. That’s not acceptable, they need to treat us better, more humane. The governor of Arizona needs to understand that's not the right path."
Through the planned strike, Girons says they hope to gain respect for everyone who migrates to the US for prosperity.

I think it's a great idea, but they should change it to "A Year Without Mexicans".

They need us just as much as we need them. They are not going to treat them like animals, they are simply going to ask them for docs. its really not a big deal. if they are here legally then there is nothing they should worry about.

It is obvious that the drug cartels aren't too happy with this law. Who do you think is organizing these boycotts? What is the big deal about producing some identification when you get pulled over. I am not falling for this trap.

Nice, punish Texas for a law passed in Arizona. No wonder Mexico lost the land that is now North of the Rio Grande.

Many people with Mexican American relatives in the U.S. are not going to take part. The CANACO the Mexican chamber of commerce is so misguided about thhe issue that want to tarnish the relations between the Mexccian and the U.S. as a whole. The Arizona Law is racist because it targets Mexicans, either Mexican Americans or Mexican natiomals. An old racist tactic that I had seen in the past 50 years.
43576644La Canaco said on Thursday, May 20 at 7:04 AM
The Canaco does not represent Mexico. is a private organization of wealthy individuals that do not have any idea of the real issues. That organization does not have any authority to call for a "boycott". A lot of mexican people are against and angered for calling for an irrational and stupid "boycott".

You are the people that encourage the ilegal immigration, The United States Government must to jail all people like you and maybe deport them to Guantanamo for Unamerican activities. Americans who provide the jobs to the ilegal aliens are as guilty as the ones that must to live with the burden of the prejudice and the discrimination.

Stay Home!! What freakin hypocrites! Are they going to keep their children out of our schools too? Are they not going to come shopping with food stamps paid for by the US taxpayer? Are they not going to come for their Medicaid-funded Doctor's appointments? Mexico does not tell the US how to run its immigration.

I don't think we have a problem with Mexicans coming to the USA, it is the illegals we don't want!!!!! Most of my family is from Nuevo Laredo, but we have all paid for our residency status, our Border Crossing status and some of us have even become American Citizens. I would be proud to show my papers if I was carded!!!!

You are the type of Mexicans that love to close the door to your own. You dont even know about the suffering of the Mexicans and the Mexican Americans on the hands of the Racist Anglos that came as ilegals in the 1800's, It does not matter if you have papers, under those laws you wiil harrassad and intimidated by anglos because you are Brown! and dont waste money trying to bleach your hair. for them you are a MEXICAN.

I dont need any help from those stupid government agencies and the people behind those desks. who are there for their own benefit aand wiil do anything to justify their jobs, giving all sorts of "help".

You might want to file a law suit for the use of depleted uranium shells used in the current wars in Afgan/Iraq and the previous Gulf War, they proved that the radiation from the explosions did indeed cause malformations in Vet DNA causing a host of problems
