With summer right around the corner some residents are concerned about the safety of Laredo's playgrounds. So they called Pro 8 Problem Solvers.
Many callers have complained about unsafe conditions so we sent our Ryan Bailey out to investigate. Seven Flags Park is a popular spot next to J.C. Martin Elementary School, but Reynaldo De La Pena thinks more needs to be done in maintaining the park.
Reynaldo De La Pena\CONCERNED FATHER “More maintenance, just keeping up with the place, if the park is not in good condition, than it discourages people from visiting the park. "If not enough people visit the park that encourages vandalism and all that sorta stuff.”
The Parks And Leisure Department says it tries to visit their parks at least every other day and most of the time they make it every day.
While issues like a lack of shade, and broken fixtures fall on the Parks and Leisure Department, both Millan and De La Pena agree that citizens need to help out where they can by calling in if things are broken or you see any suspicious activity.
The Parks And Leisure Department could not specify on when they would fix the problem but we will follow up with them and get more on this story fo

These aren't the only places that are run down. It amazes me that interior cities in both Mexico and the US have cleaner/safer places than the border areas. I always wonder why this is consistantly true.

Does not make any sense...Parks & Leisure also QUADRUPLED the fees for kids summer activity programs (divided into (4/$25) 2 week "sessions") and DOUBLED the fee for access to recreation centers to any citizen wanting to enjoy its programs. No mention of the increments that I was aware of anywhere...just jack up those prices and keep the properties at minimal maintenance..great business..no logic.
