U.S. citizens falling victim to carjackings in Nuevo Laredo

By KGNS News

The Laredo Police Department has been receiving reports of a rash of car jackings in Nuevo Laredo.
Many are reporting the incidents to Laredo police for insurance purposes.
Now, police say they want to bring awareness of what’s happening across the border.
According to police, the carjackingS in Nuevo Laredo are happening at random times.
According to carjacking victims, a group of “spotters” is seen several blocks from the international bridge.
According to Joe Baeza, with the Laredo Police Department, " There's people who blocked them off in different intersections away from the bridge and when they block them off several people get out of a car, and they will take off with the vehicle."
There have also been reports that the spotters will take a picture, with their cellphones, of the car they’re interested in.
Between January and May there have been more than 35 carjackings across the border.
22 of those have occurred between May first and the 18th.
Five more cases have been reported since then.
"The auto theft division is certain that there is a good possibility between 30 to 40 cars in the month of May alone,” says Baeza.
Police say people need to use extreme caution when driving into Nuevo Laredo, epecifically if you drive a newer model or a more expensive car.

Thats correct a country that is at civil war. On the government side are our tax dollars hard at work and on the other the cartels with our US made weaponry coupled with an insatiable US demand for drugs. A matter of supply and demand, No?

And yet they still keep going to nuevo laredo. That country is at civil war with the cartels and its real easy for innosent people to get caught in the middle. Is it worth the risk?

Maybe the Nuevo Laredo Chamber of Commerce will organize some type of activity to bring awareness to this problem on their side of the border? They might have some left over resources from the boycott on Laredo that was organized for this past Monday.
