International Boulevard a 'Hot Spot' for speeding

By KGNS News

Local pastor Mike Barrera says, "The other day we had two cars going about 45 miles per hour crossing the yellow line and I called 911 and they are just having a race down International with curves which you can't see anybody coming.
Stories like these are becoming more and more prevalent along the busy stretch of International Blvd between McPherson and Michigan Ave.
Barrera says, "Ee joke about International. We call it international speedway because the average speed is like 55 miles per hour.
The posted speed limit here on International Blvd. is 30 miles per hour. Many don't follow that. Those who do follow the law get tailgated and sometimes they get passed up all together on this one lane road.
Laredo Police spokesman Joe Baeza says, "The wider the road, I think the more speed people want to pick up. If the street has a double stripe on it, you can not over pass a car no matter how wide the streets.
And this mother has an impassioned plea for anyone that drives up and down this busy street.
Gigi Caballero says, "For the sake of our children, to please just respect the stop signs and to just slow down for the safety of all of us.

College kids don't care about anyone. They are free from the confines of their parental units and other responsibilities. Some even have maids to do their apartment cleanup. Others have race cars (350Zs, Corvettes, Cameros, etc), and some even have a nice weekly paycheck given by their parents just by attending school. Its sick, and I thank God when they aren't on the streets during university hours.

Another brilliant statement from the so-called police spokesman.

Pastor Barrera and Mrs. Caballero must not be from here...no one obeys traffic laws and the cops if they do give you a ticket, the violator call his camaradas or compadres to "take care" of it...Welcome to Laredo

if you are on foot then stay away from the street. if you are actually driving 30 and you see another car coming up behind you going fast then MOVE. simple. problem solved.

I live on International blvd and you can not simply move over and let a speeding car pass. what is needed is some soft speed bumps to slow the idiot spoiled children down!

Here's a tip, tell your friends and family to purposely drive at 15mph, and slightly off to one side to prevent people from passing.
