A 14 year old girl is dead after being murdered in a central Laredo home.
The Wedbb County Medical Examiner has identified her as Ana Chavez.
Police say the man who allegedly stabbed her, is a relative of the girl.
In tears this woman rushes to a central Laredo home asking for her daughter hours after the young girl was found stabbed to death in the 36-hundred block of San Francisco.
The Webb County medical examiner says the murder victim is 14 year old Ana Chavez, found dead right after six this morning.
The person believed to be her attacker is her stepfather.
“Upon entering the residence it was believed that there was some sort of domestic altercation,” says investigator Joe Baeza.
Officers say that man was also found with stab wounds, believed to be self inflicted.
“It appears to be at this point that he turned himself and tried to take his own life.”
He was taken to a hospital in critical condition and is now under police watch.
Officers say its not clear what exactly led to that brutal attack but are interviewing several witnesses, all at the home at the time.
Neighbors say the people in that home had recently moved in only living there a few months.
They say they never really got to know the young girl.
Police say this is the third homicide of the year.

THE TEACHER AND STUDENTS AT WASHINGTON MIDDLE SCHOOL THAT SHE ATTENDED ARE HEARTBROKEN OVER THE LOSS OF SUCH A YOUNG CHILD. HER LIFE WAS CUT SHORT AND THE VERY BEGINING. OUR THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS ARE FOR HER & HER SIBBLINGS. WHERE WAS THE MOTHER AT SUCH AN EARLY HOUR?

Our heartfelt condolences go out to the girl's mother and siblings. I will be interested to know if alcohol/drugs/mental condition played any part in this horrific crime. If there is justice in this world, the stepdad will suffer terribly and then die in hospital.
