Thousands in cash found during traffic stop

By KGNS News

The Laredo Police Department makes cash seizure while performing a routine traffic stop.

Police stopped a Ford F-150 at the intersection of Mines Road and San Lorenzo.

The truck had Tamaulipas license plates and two men were inside.

The officers asked for consent to search the vehicle and a K-9 was brought in to do a check of the truck.

Two duffle bags were found on top of the rear seat of the truck.

The bags contained 33 bundles of foil-wrapped currency.

According to police, the money is estimated to run in the ten's of thousands of dollars, but they won't have an exact count until possibly Tuesday because of the holiday.

Both men in the truck denied owning the cash, so they were released.

The case is under investigation.
