Making a Splash: Pools Now Open, Officials Urge Caution

By KGNS News

Pools around Laredo are now open, giving children somewhere to cool off this weekend. Now, the Department of Family and Protective Services is issuing a friendly reminder to parents and guardians to please watch their children. At least 31 children have drowned in Texas so far this year. According to statistics, memorial day weekend is the deadliest period for drowning. While Laredo pools do have lifeguards, many parents sometimes overlook dangers in their own backyards. State officials hope parents will keep an eye on their kids, even if it's just a backyard pool.

Took my kids to Three Points - since it's the closest, and it was kind of late in the day. It was DISGUSTING and the dressing rooms are FILTHY.

So much for a water park. It would be trashed on the first hour of opening.

I try to go before the crowds hit the pool.

Swimming in urine filled public pools doesn't appeal to me. Heck even the gym pools are speculative.
