Mayor Salinas says the national gaurd troops will be sent to four states. In addition, 500 million dollars will be sent to aid in equipment and supplies.
He says they will not perform law enforcement duties. They will aid in surveilance and intelligence. While he welcomes the help he says Laredo is safe with a low homocide rate (3 murders this year, non cartel related, according to Salinas). So, he's pushing for more permanent boots on the ground.
"I think we really need more permanent law enforment to protect the citizens. I think we need to do more to intercept weapons stolen cars money going southbound used by cartels. That's important but in order to do that we need more personel.."
Salinas says our city really needs help in promoting bussiness, which has been affected by the negative attention of the drug war.

Please.. the murder and gun shot rate is lowered on purpose even our own police department officers state that. It makes the city look good to have "lower" violent crime rate. Who the heck believes this guy?! He must work for BP!!!

You want to promote bussiness, get rid of that fat dude and put someone in that knows what he/she is doing instead of all the photo ops and whinning.
