City works to bring more trade to Laredo

By KGNS News

U.S. Customs and Border Protection was among the agencies asked to meet with the city manager this morning to discuss the city's future when it comes to trade.
After recent trips to Central and South America, City Manager Carlos Villarreal says plenty of good news is in store for Laredo, if everyone works together and sets a plan of action.
He says it takes plenty of organization, not only by the city but other agencies and organizations to better welcome new business and trade.
Villarreal says Laredo has much to offer and other countries like Ecuador are beginning to see the possibilities.
Villarreal hopes to better outline those possibilities to make it easier for companies to want to come to Laredo.

I may be mistaken but,my thinking is that the only ones to profit from added trade would be the import/export warehouses here. Even then I believe most of them are privately owned by mexican companies not the city. Seems that the city would be better off trying stuff like the waterpark, more museums, more recreational centers like the old play-more that was off 35 at mann rd. something that would attract turism and keep laredoans in town for vacations instead of going to San Antnio, South Padre Island and spending over a thausand bucks or more a pop . But most of all make the turists feel safe and secure by showing that the border is secure.
