Teen claims US Marshals beat him during raid

By KGNS News

A Laredo teenager is recovering from several injuries, days after he says a U.S. Marshal beat him up.

His family now wants to know why the marshal used such excessive force on the teenager.

Sixteen-year-old Jerry Palacios says he woke up at around 745 to someone pulling the sheets. He thought it was his friend, but it wasn't.

Instead, he would end up in a hospital with a fracture to his face only hours after he says a U.S. Marshal beat him up.

He says it all came after authorities started him while he was sleeping, as they raided his friend’s home in the 1000 block of Bartlett.

Jerry's dad says his son should have never been ended up the way he did if the marshals were doing their job correctly.

Palacios has been charged with assault on a public servant and resisting arrest class-a.

He and his family say he should have never been charged and have hired an attorney.

Meanwhile, we contacted the U.S. marshals for their side of the story.

They will not make any specific comments about the incident but do say its an ongoing criminal investigation.

So I guess it is ok if teachers can start beating up on students who assault them. Afterall they are public servants.
