An arrest has been made in the case of a 14-year-old Laredo girl who was stabbed to death in her home, allegedly by her stepfather. The arrest comes a week after her death. Our Annette Garcia joins us with the latest details and exclusive video of the suspect's arrest.
"Escorted into the Laredo Police Department Saturday afternoon, is 35 year old Efrain Colindres--still wearing a hospital gown--and now shackles. Colindres was released from a local hospital with what appears to be a scar on his neck. He had been hospitalized for over a week. Police say Colindres stabbed himself moments after allegedly stabbing his teenage stepdaughter to death. 'He was medically cleared to go on to the county jail,' says Investigator Joe Baeza. The arrest comes after a week of tears from 14 year old Ana Chavez' family and friends as the young girl was laid to rest Wednesday morning. Authorities say her alleged murderer has not spoken about the incident. Colindres was taken in for questioning immediately after being released from the hospital, charged with murder. 'Detectives are conducting an interview to see if he wants to declare anything,' says Baeza. His bond has been set at $1 million dollars. Annette Garcia, Pro 8 News."
Police say they are still trying to confirm what exactly started the dispute. Officers have also interviewed other witnesses but have not released any further information.

If he is eventually found guilty, he should be put in isolation with a butter knife!
