The Webb County District Attorney says he will prosecute the stabbing death of a 14-year old girl very aggressively.
Thirty four-year-old Efrain Colindres is the main suspect in the stabbing death of his stepdaughter, Ana Chavez.
He was arrested over the weekend after being treated in the hospital for a week for what police say appeared to be a self-inflicted stab wound, suffered during the attack.
In a comment made earlier today, District Attorney Isidro Alaniz said there is no justification to, what he calls, murder:
"A lot of people always want to know a motive as to why a crime is committed. As far as I'm concerned it's a murder and there is no justification as to why it was done in my opinion. So we are going to prosecute it aggressively."
The District Attorney says the case is still being put together.
Colindres has now been officially charged with murder.
He is being held on a $1-million bond.

If this man was the mother's boyfriend, I'm sure she HAD to know his demeanor. I bet this guy is not even from the U.S. Unfortunately, he won't get the death penalty if convicted, since the DA won't be able to prove premeditated murder. The best this will do is life. Even less if the defense attorney can prove not guilty by mental defect.

THE JUSTIFICATION WAS TO SILENCE HER FROM REPORTING THE ABUSE SHE WAS GOING THROUGH. THE DEATH PENALTY IS NOT ENOUGH FOR SOMEONE WHO COMMITS THIS TYPE OF CRIME AGAINST A CHILD.
