Man sentenced to 10 years in prison for transporting illegals

By KGNS News

A Rio Bravo resident is sentenced for transporting illegal immigrants into the United States.
Alfredo Segura-Guel has been sentenced to 10 years in prison for the transportation of illegal immigrants for financial gain.
A federal judge in Laredo sentenced Guel and 26-year-old Maria Trinidad Lopez yesterday.
Lopez has been sentenced to 84 months in prison.
They were the last two people charged and convicted following an ICE investigation.
The incident happened back in June of 2009.
Guel arranged the transportation of nine immigrants, which included a guide who would take the group through a ranch avoiding a border patrol checkpoint.
During an eight hour walk a victim fell sick, but the guide told the group they couldn't stop.
Shortly after, the victim collapsed and died from heat exhaustion.
