Substitute teachers continue their push for benefits

By KGNS News

Substitute teachers continued their push for benefits today as they met with State Representative Richard Raymond and Congressman Henry Cuellar.

The group of teachers met at the La Quinta Inn off of Loop 20 to express their concerns.

Congressman Cuellar brought several pamphlets with information on who is covered under the new health care bill.

He says Texas is the #1 beneficiary of the new bill with over $101 billion going toward health care.

A possible supplement for education from the federal government could help substitute teachers in the future.

After having meetings to push their issue the teachers are pleased with the progress:

"I do feel very positive that our issue is being heard by both districts. We had the superintendent come to our previous meeting and he says we are an integral part of the district."

Both school districts continue to look into the issue.

There is no word on a timetable for a decision.

They don't deserve benefits from the school system. What they need to do is go to college and get a degree. They don't do anything useful, except babysit and flirt.

Go to school and get a job that offers benefits. Teachers who babysit er substitute teach already have retirement benifits. All this is being promulgated by a few who don't want to work for thier benifits.

The way to do it is to lie! They don't check if you hold degrees anyway. I know a quite a few state and local officials without any credentials, and they managed to secure a top level position. One of them was convicted of several crimes. Even with time served she was able to acquire a greatly desired position.

Don't work? Ha, what a joke. Someone is sure to cross the (strike) line. Surely someone can be found willing to work.
