Mexican National Killed at San Ygnacio Ranch...Investigation Continues

By KGNS News

A Mexican national is shot multiple times and killed at a ranch just outside of San Ygnacio. Now, the Zapata County Sheriff's Department is working with Mexican officials to try and find the person who did it. Our Cynthia Cano has more in our top story at five. Cynthia?
"Thanks Adriana. Officials say the shooting happened Thursday evening at a ranch located on Los Potreritos Road and Highway 83, just a few miles north of San Ygnacio. The victim was a Mexican national who had been working there as a ranch hand. Owners of the ranch, who live right here in Laredo, discovered the body at noon the following day. While officials are still trying to piece together evidence in the case, they did manage to link a truck that was found abandoned in Rio Bravo to that incident. The truck was believed to belong to the ranch owners. So far, officials say they do not have any suspects, but they do have a person of interest in the case. They believe the murder might have been committed by a ranch hand working at the ranch next door to where the murder occurred. "We have to determine if someone actually stole the truck from him and killed him in the process. It could be capital murder," says Sigifredo Gonzalez Jr., Zapata County Sheriff. Coming up on Pro 8 News at ten, we'll tell you what neighbors in the area said they saw and heard the night this murder was committed.
