Another 8-Liner is closed down for business, this time on the city's north side. Thousands of dollars in cash are confiscated as a result of the gambling bust.
Almost sixteen-thousand dollars is what Laredo police confiscated from the maquinitas on the 2300 block of Endeavor Road. Casablanca Amusement is where officers say they investigated for weeks before allegedly catching employees there in the act of paying out in cash.
One hundred and six motherboards were also taken from this establishment. This man, 24-year-old Daniel Melchor was taken into custody on charges of gambling promotion.
Police tell us more arrests are still pending. This is the second 8-liner gambling bust in the past week.

Lets be realistic, we know all the gambling establishments are paying cash, they would not be so packed. They just do raid on whom they want, to cover up.

Funny how the game is played. The owner pays dearly for the city permit to operate the business. After a few months, but before the yearly permit expires, another branch of the city government raids the establishment, this extracts more revenue for the city. The owner then reinvests in more permits and the cycle begins anew. In this way the city becomes the recipient of this cach cow that helps pay for mr potato head's and the city manager's junket trips abroad. What else is the city using the money from the maquinita business?

when you control how the chief conducts raids you know your busines will be safe from any future raids.navaez is getting away and pro8 has no guts to go after why his business is safe from raids or even smoking inside

Every maquinitas owner is a gambling addict who knows that when they apply and pay for permits, they are playing the odds that they won't get caught. Again, when they get caught, they take their chances, knowing the odds are against them. Then they blame Narvaez, the media and everyone but themselves. That is a true gambler in denial!!!

Who sells or rents the maquinitas? I just know that during the elections one councilman was backed by the LPOA!

New one went up next to Atlantis on Mcpherson. Wonder who will go down first. One of them was shut down recently. Guess it's a territorial war now.
