Suspect Head-Butts Officer during Arrest

By KGNS News

A man is facing more charges after head-butting a police officer on their way to the Webb County Jail. Edwing Ahmed Alvarez, 24, is facing charges of resisting arrest, search and transport. He is also facing one count of assault on a public servant. According to police, Alvarez was walking along San Bernardo when he was stopped by a police officer. After further investigation, the officer found out Alvarez had an outstanding warrant for allegedly burglarizing a home. As officers tried to arrest him, he put up a fight. Eventually the officer asked for help and another officer decided to tag along in the back seat with Alvarez. On their way to jail, Alvarez continued to hit himself in the head with the cage, and when the officer tried to stop him, he head-butted him. He is now at the Webb County Jail. The officer did not receive any injuries.
