Fireworks prohibited within city limits

By KGNS News

Fourth of July celebrations are right around the corner, but authorities want to remind the public that fireworks are illegal within city limits.

Many fireworks stands opened up early today in preparation for this weekend's celebrations.

But fire officials are reminding people that the use, transport or sale of fireworks is prohibited within city limits according to a City ordinance.

This means if you’re caught with any fireworks inside Laredo city limits, you will face a fine.

Fire officials say they want families to be safe and hope to avoid any fires.

I'm really scared now. People all over Laredo will continue to shoot off fireworks in the city limits. We will ignore this law and do what we please.

What's scarier is the fact that that day is gun shots galore for stupid Laredoans. They never learn. Police ought to be on patrol everywhere. Just look at the deaths due to it. They're not accidents they're murders. I hate this holiday because of it. Fire caused by fireworks can be controlled if on patrol, but gunshots, who the hell looks up to the sky? Who knows when it will strike? If anything, the city council should mark this holiday and New Year's as the day where the penalty of firing gunshots will be so severe jail time will only be part. A fine of so many thousands will be imposed. The city council is so stupid it terrifies me. I pray to God that day goes by quickly. God be with you all.

Funny!!! Last year my neighboors were having a blast lighting fireworks and shooting a gun. I called the police. Dumb police officer got there waited for the cloud of smoke to clear up and asked in a friendly manner if they were the ones with the fireworks and handgun. They replied "No" and he left. After about 15 minutes it was back to the fireworks again. This whole law is a joke.
