Crash victims identified

The Department of Public Safety is investigating the fatal accident that happened over the weekend on I-35.

The tragic accident claimed the lives of a small baby and his parents. The accident happened Saturday, just outside of Encinal. According to reports, a tractor trailer veered out of the south-bound lane into the north-bound lane, hitting the oncoming car.

Four people were inside.

The driver, 21 year-old Manuel Arizola; his common law wife, 21 year-old Joanna Sandoval and their 11-month old baby, Romen Arizola. All passed away in the accident.

At the time of the accident, DPS said a 13-year-old girl was also in the car. She was transported to a hospital in San Antonio; at the time she was in critical condition.

The associated press is now reporting that she is at Brooke Army Medical Center.

It is believed that she is the sister of Manuel Arizola, the driver of the vehicle.

The accident is still under investigation.
