Prices are on the rise for one airline company. Allegiant Air has mentioned they were considering the charges in the past. Now it's official. On a round trip for two, you can expect to pay $140 just for carry-ons. Those looking to book a flight with Allegiant Air will soon be paying a little extra. As of Wednesday, the airline will charge $35 for a passenger to carry on a bag, something customers aren't too thrilled about. "I think that's pretty expensive for a carry-on." For frequent fliers like this Avon representative, the fee to check a bag is outrageous. "I travel every week so having to pay $35 a week will really hurt my pocket and my company." In a statement received by email, the President of Allegiant Air says, "We will introduce the newest change to our product menu and provide travelers with options and fees for carry-on bags. Passengers will be permitted to bring one personal item that can be placed under the seat in front of them." "Allegiant Air will now charge $35 per carry on which includes anything other than a purse, briefcase or laptop." However, the airline is offering a discount for those passengers who prepay for their carry-ons. "Do you think this is something other airlines will jump on?" "If everybody takes it like it's ok, other airlines will do the same." On the bright side, Richard Hess says at least Allegiant passengers aren't getting charged for other services. "I heard there's an airline in Ireland that's charging people to use the bathroom. They'll find anything they can do to squeeze another penny out of their customers." Allegiant Air might think these new charges won't affect their business, but for others... "I wouldn't fly if I had to pay to check a bag." These prices will go into effect late tonight, early tomorrow morning. Travelers who already have reservations for future travel will not be affected.
