There are designated drivers at an event going on right now. That’s where many are getting a taste of maybe some of the best beer on the border.
It’s the first ever Border Beer Fest taking place at Life Downs this evening.
Organizers were busy since the early morning hours setting up the booths and of course the beer.
Over 100 different beers from around the world are there for participants to sample.
Organizers are hopeful this will become a tradition.
"I'm having a fantastic time. The best I ever had ever! I'm kind of surprised that this is the first time it's ever been here. There's a lot of beer drinkers in Laredo and they've got to have this more often. Every year would be nice,” say some beer enthusiasts.

Pos si quieres algo pa los niños aslo tu mismo y no andes ay quejandote. If you want face painting and piñatas, go ahead and make one “for the kids” (that sounds like a school district motto). The fact is kid events don’t generate money. The people with the most disposable income and have the top purchasing power are those between 22 and 35. Sara made a comment that she was a prostitute. You are only showing your ignorance and stupidity by fabricating vicious rumors about someone who voiced her personal opinions. As Laredoeans we such be embarrassed that we did not respond to her in a kind manner. She was probably not meeting the right group of people. There are just too many haters that will not accept persons from other states. Her comments were 95% valid and everyone gets defensive. The truth is hard to accept so people like Sara comment something STUPID and try to degrade the person. Haters like you usually will have bad things happen to them.

Sara appears very angry and unhappy. She has had horrible experiences here and appears not to embrace our culture. She is probably having marital problems. Hey Sara, I have been to Detroit,New Mexico, California, Mexico City, Europe and guess what there are differences in the culture both good and bad. Also, you will find violence in the streets of New York, New Mexico, Colorado -EVERYWHERE. You just could not get over the culture shock and prejudicies.

Just saw Sara hates Laredo. I can not help but feel saddness for her. She obviously is going through culture shock and probably has not been able to make friends. She sees Laredo in a very negetative and prejudicial light. She exaggerates about how bad Laredo. I get the feeling she is alone at home alot and is isolated from the real Laredo. Sara you look so sad and trapped. I feel she is unhappy with her life, marriage, move and isolation. Hope things work out for you. Laredo and the people are not bad. I feel sad for you and can you you are very unhappy. Try to join a social club like the Martha's, a church group and get to KNOW THE REAL LAREDO AND ALL IT HAS TO OFFER.

Coverage of event showed a bunch of people standing around drinking beer and more beer. It showed a bunch of people drinking and possibly getting drunk. More drunks great! It is pathetic and makes no sense to me. Beer Fest only in Lared0 - bunch of drunks getting together!!!!!!!!!!!
