Omar Cardenas was a third grader at Alicia Ruiz Elementary.
Before he left for Spring break, Omar left his class room and classmates for the last time.
One week later, on Friday night, Omar was reportedly ejected from a vehicle during a three car collision and died in a San Antonio Hospital due to his injuries.
" A lot of our students haven't been exposed to anybody with grief in their family so we want to make sure that we touch basis as much as we can as counselors."
The school principal Karen Fox, says losing anyone is difficult and everyone shaken after the loss of outstanding little Omar.
"He's a delightful child , alert, alive, excited about school. I spoke to his mom this morning. He loved coming to school. He was an excellent student."
Omar loved coming to school, in fact he had a perfect attendance record until today when he was absent for the first time.
Beside loving school he was a artist in the making and excelled in his works.
Omar was part of a very select Art Club at his school.
"The sponsor did hand choose these students. She chose 25 students meeting the following criteria of best artistic drawings and Omar was selected."
At this loss, his family decided to donate Omar's organs and give seven other kids an opportunity to live.
The Cardenas family remains in San Antonio but a bank account has been set up to help the family with funeral expenses of 9 year old , little Omar Cardenas.
"We're gonna miss him."

It's not the quote "basis" that's wrong, it's the stupid writer who spelled it wrong. You can touch base or you can touch bases. Car seat???? What's that??? Oh, now I know. It could have saved a child's life.

Was he in a booster seat or strapped in somehow? I haven't read anything that says he was.
