A federal jury in South Texas has convicted an alleged hit man for a Mexican drug cartel in his second trial on racketeering, conspiracy and weapons charges.
Gerardo Castillo Chavez was found guilty Wednesday in Laredo,
about two years after jurors deadlocked on similar counts in his
first trial.
Castillo -- also known as "Cachetes" -- was the first of 34 defendants named in the 51-page indictment to go on trial. Many others have pleaded guilty.
Prosecutors alleged Castillo was part of a larger drug-trafficking conspiracy run by the Gulf drug cartel and the Zeta's terror squad.
Court records show the conspiracy's primary objective was moving
cocaine and marijuana from Mexico into Laredo and on to Dallas.

actually you're wrong our justice systme is pretty messed up, the owner of megaupload could face a potential 50 years in prison for facilitating piracy, while the guys who raped, killed, then disposed of a woman could only get 20 years. yep great justice systen when the companies that have a load of pull and money can push for harsher punishment of crimes that don't really cost the companies their extra greed money, but you can take a life and that isn't so severe lol

@money Our legal system works because people like this get the best defense possible. In spite of the fact that he had good legal representation he was found guilty leaving no doubt that he was found guilty for any other reason. He was found guilty in spite of the fact that he had a professional liar trying to convince the jury otherwise, even better. This is why our criminal justice system resembles fairness.
