City and fire department may come to a contract agreement
After quite a while, the City of Laredo and the Firefighters Association could come to a final agreement on their new contract.
Originally the contract ended last year, and at Monday’s City Council the City is expected to decide if they will sign off on the final agreement.
What’s on the table is a new contract that will be retroactive to compensate for those days of negotiations.
Effective immediately until September thirtieth of 2014 the Council is subject to approve:
A 3.25% salary increase for firefighters through the rank of captain, and a 2% increase for district chiefs, through rank of assistant chief.
This is for fiscal year 2011, 2012, and 2013.
For fiscal year 2014 there will be a 2% salary increase for all ranks.
In addition to salary increases the contract includes pension increase of 2.45%.
