Constable Tino Juarez dies from gunshot wound

By KGNS News

Constable Tino Juarez has died in a Laredo hospital after being shot inside his northside home.

The shooting happened around 7:30 Wednesday night in the 8800 block Liberty Loop.

Laredo police scrambled to the scene after a 911 call to dispatch.

Investigators say it was his wife on the other end of the line.

She told dispatchers her husband constable Juarez had been shot once in the upper body.

Neighbors gathered outside their homes to figure out what had just happened in their quiet neighborhood as police combed the scene behind yellow crime scene tape.

Again investigators are still looking into how Constable Juarez was shot only telling us at this point that the wound was to his chest area of the body.

Everyone seems to be saying the same thing: "Please pray for his family" in this tough time.

Tino Juarez had more than 40 years of experience in law enforcement.

He was previously a US Marine, and after his service he joined the Laredo Police Department.

He also worked for the Webb County Sheriff's Department as a chief deputy, before running for office and taking over as Constable of Precinct 4 in 1997.

Shot in the chest? It has been documented and proven that those who choose to take their own life will do it in an expeditious and painless manner if at all possible. (One to the head, fist full of pills, 100 mph into a tree/pole, etc.); not shoot themselves in the chest. And, wasn’t he running for re-election?? Another reason to live. Something stinks in Pestosoville.

It is a sad day with the loss of Tino Juarez. He was always very active in the community and seemed to have his whole life revolve around his image as a constable and public servant. If he was diagonsed with cancer, he may have fallen into a great depression and might have felt helpless and useless. Some are jumping to conclusions about his death but never under estimate the power of depression, isolation and defeat. It is a dangerous element to deal with. My prayers are with him and his family.

I was reading his Facebook acct earlier today his sister wrote something about TIno finding his family...and she then went on about an operation he responded to take care and be brave, after that no more postings...just wondering why did someone remove the post. Yes we lost a great man remember going to school an seeing him on the street doing crossing duty. Sundays he was out there on San Martin directing traffic...saluting...Laredo lost a wonderful person...regardless his personal life, his life as a visible constable was the best...RIP Tino...

I remember when I saw his sign for the first time on Calton Road and San Dario, on jacamans fence, I felt proud to have a Mexican American as my constable, sadly we lost him, We are going to miss him.
