Drunk Driver Flees, Leaves Children in Backseat

By KGNS News

Police respond to a call of a drunk driver fleeing the scene of a motor vehicle accident only to find children in the back seat of the car.

A call came into the first responders at around 1:00 AM about a vehicle hitting a parked car in the 1300 block of Boston. Police responded to the scene, and immediately searched the vicinity, only to discover the grill of the vehicle at the corner of Ugarte and San Bernardo. They found the driver, 26 year old Anna Cecilia Moreno, had come to a stop at the 1500 block of Ugarte and fled. That's where police discovered two minor children in the back seat. An ambulance arrived on the scene to treat the children, who had no injuries. Moreno was taken into custody, and charged with 2 counts of DWI with a child passenger, 2 counts of abandoning and endangering a child, and 2 counts duty upon striking an unattended vehicle.

The children were turned over to a relative, however, Child Protective Services was contacted.
