Friends of Omar Cardenas say final goodbye

Friends of the young boy killed in a car accident over the weekend gave an emotional farewell at their school.

The funeral procession of Omar Cardenas paused in front of Ruiz Elementary Friday morning on the way to the cemetery allowing students, teachers and staff to say a final goodbye.

His friends all released hundreds of balloons in a moving tribute to the third grader.

They also held signs saying goodbye to Omar and that he would be greatly missed.

The nine-year-old was killed in a car accident on Loop 20 over the weekend.

Friends of the young boy say the loss of the child was hard to accept.
