Hale Sentenced to 295 Months

By KGNS News

A former Laredo Police officer found guilty of drug conspiracy charges is handed a hefty sentence today. Orlando Hale will serve 295 months or more than 24 years, in federal prison for his crime.
Hale was sentenced today in Judge Micaela Alvarez' courtroom in federal court, following several postponements in the case. His sentence includes the 295 months, plus a $2,000 fine. The case stems back to April 29th of last year, when he was arrested following allegations he prepared false reports to commit theft of vehicles and then have them transported to Mexico. Hale was originally tried on 4 counts of mail and wire fraud, and two counts of drug conspiracy back in September of last year. He was found guilty on the 2 counts of drug conspiracy. In the court room today, Judge Alvarez made reference to his family's active involvement in law enforcement through the years. At the time of his arrest, Hale was serving as a Laredo Police officer.
Hale has 14 days to file an appeal of the sentence.

I hope this sends a message to the few corrupt officers that are giving the Laredo Police Department a bad name.

There are too many corrupt government personnel in our city and county levels that if they have an anti-corruption investigation half of the employees will be fired or sent to jail.
