Travelers into Mexico may be able to breathe a little easier as the government is taking strong measures to protect them against abusive authorities. Authorities in Nuevo Laredo announced there will be stronger penalties placed against traffic police caught extorting Paisanos. In the coming days the rush of Paisanos is expected once again on our border as they return back to the US after visiting families in Mexico for the holidays. The government has initiated a taskforce operation to protect the citizens who are commonly taken advantage of on their voyage. Officials say that if traffic police are caught extorting the Paisanos, they face immediate suspension and will be penalized on a case-by-case basis.
