Heat reportedly linked to truck driver's death

By KGNS News

For the first time this year, emergency responders report a heat related death in Laredo.

Officials tell us it happened Saturday night at the a truck stop on the 13 Mile Marker off Interstate 35, where they responded to a call of a truck driver in need of medical assistance.

We’re told an officer out there tried to assist Carey Jay Williams with CPR but was unsuccessful.

Paramedics say they rushed Williams to a local hospital in critical condition, but he was later pronounced dead.

Initial reports say the heat was a factor in Williams’ death; the official cause of death however is pending the medical examiner's results.
