An unthinkable case of child abuse plays out in a south Laredo home. Tonight a mother is behind bars for essentially boiling her baby in a sink with scalding water.
Police call in an extreme case of child abuse. The woman who says she was just trying to give her baby a bath, kept the scalded child with second degree burns home crying in pain almost a full day.. Before the woman's mother saw the baby and called for help.
According to police, a water heater that is poorly hooked up outside this south Laredo home may be to blame for the scalding water and the extreme burns to a one year old girl.
But investigators say that doesn't explain why 20 year old Marielia Capetillo sat her 22 month old baby in a sink full of boiling water without first checking how hot it was.
What's worse instead of taking the baby girl to a hospital immediately, Capetillo went about her night as usual, all the time the baby in pain and crying.
The next morning the mother even took her older son to school before police say the woman's mother rushed the child to a nearby fire station to be checked out.
Seeing the severity of the burns, paramedics immediately rushed the baby to the hospital.
This is the fire station where the 22 month old was brought after being burned badly by her mother.
We tried to speak to someone at the home where the baby was burned, but according to the man who was home he said he didn't want to say anything until his wife got home.
"No just wait for my wife to come back. I don't know anything."
According to police, the baby was air lifted to a San Antonio hospital due to the severity of her injuries. They don't understand why Capetillo waited so long to get the baby medical treatment.
“The child had extreme large patches of skin that had begun to blister and bubble up and begin to pop so not only was it painful for the child severe infection was also imminent in this case.”

“An eye for an eye!" I'll volunteer to hold her down in a tub of scalding water. Maybe that will wipe the stupid chuntara look off that ugly pile puke stacked on her shoulders. Then a court ordered sterilization is in order so she can’t “make heem another baby”. That has got to be the stupidest freaking excuse I have ever heard. Why doesn’t she have 2nd degree burns on her hands? Because, she knew exactly what she was doing. A 22 month old baby can not defend itself. And for the husband that, "es que, I no know nassing", you a buffoon…

This sorry excuse of a mother needs to b held accountable for her actions. This biotch (*oh n pro 8 hope u dont reject because of this word cus " INV.JOE" also used it n yet again u posted his comment) doesnt even deserve to b called a mother!! Well I'd like to put her a## in a tub of boiling hot water and not get her medical attention and let her wounds blister and fester until she gets a massive skin infection. Let's see how she likes it. The punishment should fit the crime.

X-Laredo Onda: you're right, I just don't see the point of this blog sometimes when one cannot voice out our opinions. Have you noticed that not all news make it to the blog.. Pretty sure you have. I just feel that they need to give us the opportunity to say what we need to say. To Yoyis: Yes she is out on bail, if thats what you want to call it, she was released with her signature. I was in shock when I found out as they make it very difficult for other ppl to et released when it is a much lesser crime than this. In this situation we are talking about child abuse and not just smacking the baby we are talking about this cold hearted biotch consciously put this child in a sink or tub with boiling water and did not have the heart to get her immediate medical attention, she cold heartedly waited an entire day to get the help this poor baby needed. Can you imagine the pain this poor baby was in and her just ignoring her cries. If she did not have the patience to care for a child...

..she should not have spread her legs or should have given up this baby for adoption when she realized she did not have the patience to care for her. There are a million more ppl out there who would gladly care for this baby as they wish they had their own. A mother is not one who bare a child but one who takes care, nourishes, and raises one. She should not be called a Mother.
