JJAEP receives a donation from the Lamar Bruni Vergara Charitable Trust

By KGNS News

The local Juvenile Justice Alternative Education Program currently hosts about 58 students.
They come to JJAEP from all over Webb County, after being expelled from their school.
Local authorities we spoke to told us why they believe the program is necessary for the community.
"Most of the kids who got expelled to the JJAEP, 80 percent of them are dealing with some type of drug addition, so just looking at that we need to some how find a way."
The donation of over 78 thousand dollars was made by the Lamar Bruni Vergara Charitable Trust and comes just in time as the new facility for the program is being constructed next to the juvenile center on Highway 359.
"This grant, this donation by the trust, we'll be able to buy the furniture, the surveillance equipment and things that are needed to be able to finish the project. We're very excited."
The new building will have is reading labs, and spacious classrooms and security measures including padding area for male and female students.
The total cost the of project is over one million dollars, and this donation takes it one step closer to be completed.
"The trust is extremely interested in the education of all children in Webb County and we look to see what we can do to enhance the education."
Webb County leaders say all students deserve an education, and this program may be their last chance to complete it.

JJAEP= The Zoo where every monkey deserves a banana. What an egantic gynormous’ waste of a charitable donation. Give that money to babies with cancer... There is a $.49 solution for the oxygen thieves.
