Jury selection continue for Katherine Cardenas murder case

By KGNS News

Jury selection is expected to continue into Tuesday for the trial of the man accused of killing 2-year-old Katherine Cardenas.

Jurors were being selected out of a pool of 90 individuals.

At the center of the case is Jose Arredondo charged with the murder and aggravated sexual assault of the toddler.

Just last week, Judge Joe Lopez agreed to allow most of the 33 autopsy photos of the child.

The photos were described as being very gruesome but prosecutors say they depicted the nature of the injuries the two-year-old suffered when she died in September of 2009.

Arredondos' attorneys however argued the images would influence jurors to make a decision based on emotion.

The trial could begin Tuesday afternoon.
