They’re the ones that sacrifice everything they have for our country; sometimes that sacrifice includes their own lives. Struggling veterans often gather at the Laredo Veterans Coalition in need of assistance, but today the coalition members gathered for something positive coming to the organization. Mayor Raul Salinas: "Just Energy just wanted to so something good for the community and they decided to donate t$10,000 to our veterans." This grant is something executive director of the coalition, Jose M. Satos said will be put to good use. "Whether daily needs like utility needs: light, water, gas and sometimes rent. And also travel when the veteran has to go to San Antonio at Audie Murphy." Senior Vice President of Just Energy, Stuart Rexrode, said he went to the mayor of Laredo and asked what organization needed help. Mayor Raul Salinas: "The first thing that came to mind was the veterans. The veterans come back, sometimes they're unemployed, sometimes they just need help." Stuart Rexrode\Just Energy Senior Vice President: "He actually recommended the Laredo Veterans Coalition for a donation. We whole heatedly supported that and we believe it's for a good cause." Even though the members of the local veterans coalition are from earlier wars, many of them want to help the younger military men and women just coming back from war. Barry Bernier\Veteran: "I had 27 months in a combat zone. In that respect, what I reflect on is the sacrifices today of the younger veterans, doing two and three tours in combat zones.... that’s no joke."
