Local Worker Falls to His Death

By KGNS News

"They were there to basically clean up the vents belonging to the restaurants or the restaurant that belongs to the Hamilton."
It was a regular work day for Robert Rodriguez Jr. in down town Laredo.
He was doing some work on the side of restaurant "El Catan" while hanging from a rope when the unexpected happened.
The rope he was hanging from tore making him fall 40 to 90 feet.

"There was a pair of people who were there. There was only one who was outside the building and apparently when the other employee heard the noise he went outside and discovered that the other had fallen."

31 year old Roberto Rodriguez Jr. died instantly due to his injuries.
Detectives made contact with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration in regards to work place safety issues. They are the ones who on behalf of the state who follow up any violations of safety rules.

"An investigation is being performed also by OSHA to make sure the company was following OSHA rules and state rules in regards to employee safety."

The case is still being handled as a death investigation, but Police say it seems to be accidental.

Prayers go out to Mr. Roberto Rodriguez and his family. I do hope that the family investigates the cause of death and hold someone accountable for the accident. He should not have been depending on a rope to hold him up on such a tall building.

OSHA is a federal agency not state. There are federal workplace rules, no state rules. Stupid police.
