Local veterans say thanks to volunteers

Three people were honored Friday for giving back to local veterans.

The three community members were given awards for helping in the efforts to build the Casa De Veterano, a transitional housing project for homeless veterans.

The South Texas Afghanistan Iraq Association says the three volunteers continue to be involved in many projects to help veterans.

The volunteers say without our veterans, we wouldn’t have the same opportunities we have today.
