Man Falls to his Death

A downtown Laredo worker is killed after falling from a building several stories high.
Initial reports say the victim was cleaning roof vents at a local business while hanging from a rope, when he lost control and fell to his death.
It's our top story at ten.
Police rushed to the 800 block of Salinas just before five today after witnesses reported a man falling at least five stories down the building.
We now know it was a 31 year old man who was reportedly hired to clean the roof vents of a business.
The job required him to hang from a rope.
Laredo Police say the man lost control and fell to the ground.
He died instantly due to his injuries.
Police are investigating this case.
The victim's identity has not yet been released.

These accidents are a result of the lack of OSHA presence in Laredo. So many little contractors running around with no knowledge of safety standards or regard for worker safety. If they get sued, they just close up their business and open up again under another name. Hey Congressman Cuellar, ask Nancy Pelosi if she will let you petition for a Laredo OSHA office.
